How can I display neighboring states or counties in my Data Library chart?

Last Updated: Jul 17, 2018 04:30PM PDT
By default, at the state level, most charts will compare the state in your focal location to all other states in the United States. Charts at the county level will compare your county to all other counties in your state.

Instead of comparing your location to all other locations, you can choose to compare it to neighboring states or counties.

To display only the states or counties adjacent to your focal location:
  1. Click DATA at the top of the menu on the left side of your browser window.
  2. Expand the Filters section.
  3. Click the pencil icon next to the location category (state or county).
  4. In the Update window click SELECT NEIGHBORING STATE(S) or SELECT NEIGHBORING COUNTY(S). You will see a list of the neighboring states/counties included under Selected.
  5. Click UPDATE.

Quick tip: If you want to add or remove certain states/counties from the list of neighboring locations, select or deselect the boxes for those locations in the Update window.
