A measure is a collection of observations that differ only in (one or more of) their location, time frame, or dimension — but are otherwise identical. It provides context for the numbers in your dataset. Here are some examples of measures:
- Counts (e.g. number of births).
- Rates (e.g. crude rate of cancer per 100,000 population).
- Percentages (e.g. percentage of survey respondents who smoked in the last week).
